German water is good – so why do I need a filter?

German tap water is excellent – no question. But drinking and showering are two different things. The minerals (calcium, magnesium) that you should drink form a film on your skin and hair when showering together with your soap. The chlorine that keeps your water germ-free destroys your natural protective layer and dries everything out.

That’s why your skin feels tight after showering, your hair feels straw-like, and your expensive care products seem ineffective. The filter removes exactly these problem substances – and suddenly everything works again.

In short: Drink your tap water. But filter it before you shower in it.

Beware of counterfeit filters – how to recognize the KLAIR original⚠️

Since our shower filter has become so successful, more and more cheap copies are appearing on Amazon and eBay. These counterfeits are usually smaller than our original filters and have a cheap blue plastic cap instead of our high-quality design.

Why counterfeits are dangerous:

These replicas use inferior filter material that either does not filter properly at all or, in the worst case, even releases harmful substances into the water. You think you are protecting your skin and hair, but in reality, you may be showering in contaminated water.

How to recognize original KLAIR filters:

All genuine KLAIR replacement filters have a built-in orange element on the cap and the correct size for optimal filtering performance. No orange element = not a KLAIR original. If you see a small filter with a blue plastic cap – that is definitely a counterfeit.

Where to buy safely:

We sell exclusively through our official klair-shop.de – nowhere else. You will NOT find genuine KLAIR filters on Amazon, NOT on eBay, NOT from third-party sellers. Only directly from us can we guarantee that every filter is freshly produced, properly stored, and checked before shipping.

If you see "KLAIR filters" or "compatible filters" anywhere else – do not buy them. They are inferior counterfeits. You risk your health and waste your money on something that does not work.

Remember: Original KLAIR = orange element on the cap + full size + only at klair-shop.de

Who is the showerhead suitable for?

This filter is made for you if you recognize one or more of these problems:

Hair problems:
Your hair feels dry, straw-like, or even "waxy" after washing. It has lost its shine, is difficult to comb, and breaks easily. You feel like your conditioners don’t absorb properly. If you have colored hair, your blonde turns brassy or develops green/orange tints.

Skin problems:
Your skin feels tight after showering, itches, or never feels truly clean. You have dry, flaky patches or suffer from atopic dermatitis, eczema, or psoriasis that worsen after showering. Maybe you also have back or chest acne that won’t go away.

Scalp problems:
Your scalp constantly itches, you have dandruff that doesn’t disappear even with anti-dandruff shampoo. Or you’re losing more hair than before, especially when combing after showering.

Especially ideal for:

  • Renters (no structural changes needed)
  • People living in hard water cities like Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, Cologne
  • Anyone who already spends a lot on hair care and is frustrated because nothing really helps
  • Families with children who have sensitive skin

If you recognize yourself in at least one of these points, this filter will change your life.

What will this cost me in the long run?

Let's be honest about the costs, because the price is only half the story. Here are the actual expenses:

One-time investment:
Showerhead: €40
You pay this once and then have a device that lasts for years.

Ongoing costs:
Replacement filter: €20 every 4-6 months
That’s about €3 per month.

But now the important question: What are you currently spending?

  • Premium shampoo for your hair problem: €25
  • Special conditioner: €20
  • Deep care mask: €30
  • Anti-dandruff or clarifying shampoo: €15
  • Body lotion for dry skin: €15
  • Your last hairdresser visit with coloring: €200+

That’s over €300 – and you still have the same problems. The reason? Your water is sabotaging the effectiveness of all these products.

The filter costs you about €3 per month and ensures that ALL your products finally work. You no longer waste money on expensive specialty shampoos that can’t help. Your hair color lasts twice as long. You need less lotion because your skin no longer dries out as much.

The real calculation: The filter pays for itself within 2-3 months. After that, you even save money.

Is the installation complicated? I am not handy.

If you can change a light bulb, you can install this showerhead. It really is that easy.

The process:
You unscrew your old showerhead (turn counterclockwise, it’s just screwed on—nothing is glued or welded). Then you screw on the new showerhead (clockwise). Done. No tools, no toolbox, no YouTube tutorial needed.

The entire installation takes less than 60 seconds. All adapters and seals are included in case you have an unusual connection (which is very rare). A pictorial guide is included, but you probably won’t need it.

And if something doesn’t fit? Our customer service will help you immediately. But honestly: In 99% of cases, our customers screw on the showerhead, shower, and then send us enthusiastic emails about their hair. No one writes to us about installation problems—because there aren’t any.

How often do I need to change the filter? Isn't that annoying?

There is no fixed replacement time – the filter itself shows you when it’s time. It changes color due to the work it does. The harder your water, the faster it will darken. In Berlin or Munich, where the water is very hard, you will probably need to replace it every 3-4 weeks. In areas with moderately hard water, rather every 4-6 weeks.

Our recommendation: Check the filter – if it is clearly discolored, replace it. You should replace it at the latest after 4 weeks, even if it still looks okay, because the filter’s effectiveness then decreases.

The replacement itself is very simple: unscrew the cartridge, remove the old filter, insert the new one, screw it back on. It takes 30 seconds, no tools needed, no mess. When you pull out the old, brown filter, you’ll see right away: all that stuff would have ended up in your hair otherwise.

Is it annoying? Honestly: 30 seconds every 3-4 weeks is a small price to pay for perfect hair and healthy skin. You probably spend more time searching for the right shampoo.

Does this also work with VERY hard water? I live in Berlin/Munich.

Yes – and here comes the good news: The harder your water, the more dramatic the difference will be.

Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, Cologne – these are cities from which we receive the most enthusiastic reviews. Why? Because the water there is particularly hard, and people suffer the most from the symptoms. If you live in one of these cities and your hair feels like straw after showering, your scalp constantly itches, and your shower cabin is permanently limescaled – then you are a prime example of someone who urgently needs this filter.

The filter is EXACTLY designed for these conditions. The filter media are made to handle even high mineral concentrations. Of course, the filter will need to be replaced a bit more often in a hard water area (about every 4 months instead of 6), but the effect is noticeable from the very first shower.

If you live in a hard water city, this filter is not a luxury. It is a necessity.
